Opportunity Card visa

All Bangladeshi nationals who intend to work in the Federal Republic of Germany require a visa prior to their departure.

An application may only be filed at the German Embassy Dhaka under the provision that the applicant has a permanent residence in the area of jurisdiction of this Embassy.

Application

Please note that visa applicants for all visa applicants have to register an online appointment prior to submitting their application. You can register here.

Admission to the Visa Section of the German Embassy will only be granted at the time of the scheduled appointment. Being late for more than 15 minutes will consequently result in scheduling a new appointment.

The visa application must be supported by all the necessary documents as only applications with complete documentation can be accepted.

Simultaneous applications for a Schengen visa and a National visa cannot be processed.

Fees

Visa fees are payable in BDT. The fees are fixed in Euro (please refer to the separate information sheet – therefore the equivalent in Bangladeshi currency may vary according to the exchange rate.

The complete fee has to be paid upon application and will not be refunded in case the visa application is rejected.

Processing Time

The minimum time to process your visa is approx. 6 weeks.

Checklist

Before submitting your application, please prepare the documents in the following order:

Valid passport (issued within the last 10 years; passports with observations on the front data page cannot be accepted) with at least two empty pages
1 passport photo complying with biometric specifications, not older than 6 months
Application form & declaration duly signed
Copy of your passport’s data page (A4 size copy)
Proof of vocational or academic training (e.g. University degree further information down below)
If applicable: prior work experience in the form of confirmation letters by previous employers
Motivation letter/ statement of purpose that must contain the following information:
- What type of work or job you intend to do in Germany?
- If and since when you learn German
- Why you intend to move to Germany and not another EU country
- If you have already applied for jobs (at which company) or have already been invited to job interview
Curriculum Vitae
Proof of sufficient financial means to cover the costs of living for the duration of your stay by one of the following documents:
- Proof of a “Sperrkonto” (blocked account) in Germany with sufficient funds currently amounting to at least 1.091,– EUR/month plus sufficient funds for the return flight
- “Verpflichtungserklärung” Declaration of commitment: Proof in the form of a formal declaration of commitment pursuant to Sections 66 and 68 Residence Act to the German foreigners authority in which a third person undertakes to cover all costs (original document)

Proof of health insurance for the duration of your stay – (proof to be provided at the latest when collecting the visa!)
- Proof of a private German health insurance which (so-called incoming travel insurance) valid in the entire Schengen area for the entire period of validity of the opportunity card, minimum coverage of 30,000 euro

Proof of a public German health insurance, which consists of a letter from your German healthcare provider, as well as a travel health insurance for the first three weeks.

Flight reservations and hotel reservations are not required to apply for a visa – please only book when you have gotten information from the embassy that your visa will be granted.
